Friday, March 13th at the SFPL Main Library - Koret Auditorium. This year, the ACLNC is celebrating the tireless work we do as children's librarians in an ever changing world. Our theme is Resilience & Resistance; Rest & Recovery!
I will be leading a workshop on zines as graphic medicine, a tool for librarians to process feelings as an act of self care.
Draw Your Feelings Workshop
We all experience big feelings and sometimes it’s hard to manage them. In this workshop, artist Cassy Lee will walk you through a process of using comics to embrace your emotions and experience greater equanimity. Through low-stakes comics exercises, you’ll visualize your feelings as a tool for emotional regulation. Whether it’s impostor syndrome, creative anxiety, or wider worries about the world, this process is a way to face and move through those feelings by getting them out on the page.

SFPL MiniComics Workshop
Learn the basics of visual storytelling and tools to convey mood, pacing, and narrative tension by breaking down one of your favorite books into a mini-comic. For teens and adults.

CCA MFA Comics Graduate Readings
The graduating class of 2025 is doing their final readings! This is the culmination of the program for me, and I’ll be taking the stage with my cohort for dramatic readings of our thesis work projected onto Timken Auditorium’s large screen for a crowd of friends, family, and fans.
After this dynamic display of visual and verbal virtuosity, we’ll be gathering for a reception and general jubilation (there will even be cake!). Please join us for the festivities!
Readings: 7-8:30pm
