Be Attentive:
What are you interested in? What gets your mind lost in wonder? What compels you or makes you feel alive and engaged? Seek it out!
Be Active:
"Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?"- Mary Oliver
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
There is power in action. Believe in your dreams and a benevolent force that will help you achieve them. Make good choices. Turn off the TV/computer/etc., and make time to engage in the life you want to live. Inertia is insidious. Get up and move, make real contact with someone, dance, create, investigate, experiment. Act.
Be Accepting:
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
- Oscar Wilde
"I do not think it is naive to think that it is the tiny, particular acts of love and joy which are going to swing the balance, rather than general, impersonal charities."
- Madeleine L'Engle
We are all capable of creative and wonderful acts, and don't let anybody tell you differently, including yourself. Our unique ideas are what set humans apart from any other creature on Earth, and each of us from one another. Foster these creative urges in yourself and in your children and don't judge the outcome. Whether you are attempting to create better buildings or bicycles, bread recipes or books, pursue your passion with all the curiosity, wonder and creativity you can muster and it will be enough. It doesn't have to be monumental or earth-shattering or as good as so-and-so's. Make your mark, however small (and then let it be).
